1. Why Are We
Here?
Whether
you are a deeply committed follower of Christ or someone just beginning a spiritual
journey, each of us needs to
look at this question in much greater depth.
2. Why Should
I believe in God in the first place?
God wants us to ask questions. He does
not call us to blind faith, which raises no issues and naively steps into
the unknown. As a result, blind faith can be wrong. We should never leave
our brains at the door when it comes to relating to God.
3. Why
Should I Trust the Bible?
If
we believe God exists and that He is a good and loving Heavenly Father, it makes
sense He would reveal Himself to us, communicate with us, and involve Himself
in our lives.
4. Why
is the world so messed up?
When tragedy or trauma strikes a nation or
a family, there is a tendancy to ask, "Why would God do this to us?" God is never
the cause of evil. The Bible describes God as "our loving Father." He always
desires what is best for us as His children.
5. Why
the conflict - Science and the Bible?
Christians have always understood there are
two books: the book of nature and the book of revelation (the Bible). For Christians,
both of these books have the same author and therefore should be integrated at
some level.
6. Why
Jesus?
The Apostles recognized Jesus as God and the only
pathway to God. John made this clear in describing Christ as "The Word" (John
1:1). Paul spoke of Jesus as the One who created all things and who holds all
things together with His devine power.
The discussion will be led by Roger Rudduck, PhD and Mike Carter. While everyone would benefit from each session, attendees may come for any session without having attended a previous session. This material is excellent for any Sunday School class or small group in the church. Should it appear of interest, we would encourage a member of a small group to attend to determine if it woulod be appropriate for their small group in the future. This material will be covered over a period of several months.
Sunday mornings at 11am in the Lounge.
