HEALTH HAPPENINGS |
Finally it is May and hopefully
we are outside enjoying the May flowers that all of our April rain
has produced.
I always
think that it’s easier to stay in shape during the warmer months
of the year, probably because my yellow lab uses her
big brown eyes to convince me it’s time to take a long walk.
Blessings to you, Amy Taylor, Parish Nurse
Beginning on May 11th, the ladies from our “Feel Great in 2008” group
and I hope, many more of you, will
join us as we participate in WOMAN CHALLENGE:
W= Women and girls.
O=Out,
M=Moving,
A=Across,
N= Nation or Women Out Moving Across the Nation.
This is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services. It is structured similarly to our
church walking programs from past summers. You register online at
www.womenshealth.gov/woman/register/cfm When
instructed to find a team look up Feel Great in 2008 and click to
join. We will be walking the Midwest and
Plains tour. Each participant will log her weekly progress online
and as a church, we can monitor our miles. Other
forms of exercise; running, swimming, etc can be counted as well
and there is a conversion chart for you to convert
your exercise into miles. We will be planning some group activities
too with details to follow, but first, log on to your
computer or find a friend who can register for you and join our Feel
Great Team and don’t forget the sunscreen! |
